Cafe Ephemera x Biscuiterie MO in Seongsu: Seoul's Most Atmospheric Large Cafe

Cafe Ephemera x Biscuiterie MO at LCDC Seoul, Seongsu

I'd been meaning to visit this place ever since I found out that Maison MO's cookies had landed in Seongsu. The brand's Biscuiterie MO concept — a cookie-focused offshoot of the beloved Korean patisserie — had set up shop inside Cafe Ephemera on the ground floor of LCDC SEOUL. That combination alone was enough to pull me in on a Saturday afternoon.

Cafe Ephemera x Biscuiterie MO — What Is This Place?

The full name is a mouthful: Cafe Ephemera x Biscuiterie MO. Two concepts sharing one space. Ephemera is the cafe; Biscuiterie MO (비스퀴테리 엠오) is the dessert counter from Maison MO, one of Korea's most well-regarded cookie and patisserie brands. Together they occupy the entire first floor of LCDC SEOUL's A-building in the Yeonmujang-gil area of Seongsu.

The name "Ephemera" refers to everyday objects designed to be used once and discarded — think old postcards, postage stamps, event tickets, printed ephemera of all kinds. The concept is that these throwaway things deserve to be collected and preserved. That philosophy is baked into every corner of the interior.

The Interior: More Gallery Than Cafe

The moment you walk in, the space stops you. Tall wood-tone display cabinets line the walls, lit from within, filled with vintage postcards, old stamps, and paper memorabilia. The lighting is warm and amber — the kind that makes everything look like it belongs in a curated museum. It doesn't feel like a trendy Instagram cafe trying too hard. It feels considered.

What struck me was how large the place is without feeling cold or sterile. There are a lot of seats, and the tables are spaced generously — something that's genuinely rare in Seongsu, where most cafes are small and packed. I came on a Saturday afternoon and managed to find a table without waiting. That alone earns points.

There's also a terrace outside for days when Seoul's weather cooperates. If you're visiting in spring or autumn, grab a seat out there.

Biscuiterie MO: The Real Draw

If you know Maison MO, you already understand the appeal. The cookie counter — Biscuiterie MO — is set up like a proper patisserie display: rows of buttery, precisely finished cookies in classic French-influenced styles. The kind of cookies that feel too pretty to eat for about ten seconds, then you eat them anyway.

The LCDC SEOUL Building — Worth Exploring

Don't just grab your coffee and leave. The LCDC SEOUL building itself is worth spending time in. The layout goes: 1F cafe Ephemera, 2–3F select shop (curated fashion and lifestyle brands), and a 4F rooftop bar. It's one of those Seongsu destination buildings where you could easily spend two to three hours moving between floors.

The location also puts you right on Yeonmujang-gil, which is Seongsu's main pop-up corridor. If there are brand pop-ups running (and there almost always are), this is a natural stop in the same loop.

Is It Worth the Visit?

Yes, particularly if you're combining it with a broader Seongsu day. The Biscuiterie MO counter alone is worth a detour for anyone who hasn't tried Maison MO's cookies. The cafe's interior is genuinely one of the more thoughtfully designed large spaces in this part of Seoul — it manages to feel intimate despite its size, which takes real skill.

If Seongsu is on your Seoul itinerary — and it should be — put Cafe Ephemera near the top of your cafe list. It earns its recommendation not through hype but through the actual experience: good space, good desserts, and a concept that holds up on arrival.

Hyeon Udon Sinsa: Seoul's Michelin Bib Gourmand Udon Worth the Trip

After eating my way through the udon shops of Takamatsu, I came back to Seoul slightly ruined. Not in a dramatic way — just in the way where you bite into a bowl of chain-restaurant udon and feel a quiet, specific disappointment. The noodle is fine. The broth is warm. But something's missing, and you know exactly what it is. Hyeon Udon (현우동) in Sinsa-dong (신사동) fixed that problem for me. A small place on a residential backstreet, staffed by three cooks and one server — a ratio that tells you something before you've even ordered. Six Consecutive Years of Michelin Bib Gourmand — and It Shows Walk in and the walls do the talking first. Michelin Bib Gourmand plaques, six years running. Blue Ribbon Survey picks stacked alongside. What's interesting is how un-showy it all feels — the certificates are just there, matter-of-fact, the way a serious craftsperson might hang their tools. Nothing gilded, nothing framed in neon. The dining room is compact. On a weekday lunch visit, I was...

Busan Milmyeon Near the Station: One Spoonful Tells You Everything

I walked out of Busan Station with no plan. Within five minutes of asking a local friend what to eat, the answer came fast: "Milmyeon. You have to go to the original." Milmyeon—a Busan specialty of chewy wheat noodles served cold, either in broth (mul milmyeon) or mixed with spicy paste (bibim milmyeon)—is as essential to Busan as kimbap is to Gimbap alley. It's the kind of dish that tastes the same everywhere in Seoul, but tastes like home only in one place. That place, I was told, was Wonjo Busan Milmyeon, a one-minute walk from the station. The Address That Matters Wonjo Busan Milmyeon sits at the entrance to Choryang Traditional Market, a sprawl of vendor stalls and narrow aisles that has been feeding Busan locals since the 1950s. The restaurant is impossible to miss—it's right next to Hana Bank, and the street-facing window shows a kitchen that's been doing the same thing for decades. The Soupie Samgakji: Quiet French Brunch Near Yongsan Seoul

Twenty minutes after ordering, nothing has arrived — and honestly, that's the point. The Soupie (더수피) runs at its own pace, and once you settle into a chair on the second floor of this two-story spot tucked just off the main road in Samgakji (삼각지), you stop minding. The place is quiet in a way that feels deliberate, not empty. Think less "trendy café" and more "someone's well-organized home that happens to serve really good food." The café sits in Yongsan-gu (용산구), about a two-minute walk from Samgakji Station exit 8. Turn right at the elementary school, follow the small alley, and look for the standing signboard — it's easy enough to spot once you're in the right lane. The neighborhood is quiet enough that you'll hear yourself think, which is kind of the whole vibe here. The Space: Loft Feeling, Four Tables Downstairs Ground floor has four usable tables. Head upstairs and there's more room — the split levels give it the feel of a converted h...
